Heritage apple: Baldwin

October 20, 2010

Baldwin apple

Plucked from the University of Guelph’s Vineland Heritage Orchard last week, a beautiful deep red Baldwin apple served as the model for this colored pencil illustration. Soon after it became an afternoon snack; crisp with good flavor, but a bit too dry and tart for my taste.
